APC National Secretary Basiru Discusses Tinubu’s Re-election With Gov Adeleke
The National Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, has met with the Executive Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, to discuss the governor’s pledge to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general election.
The high-stakes meeting comes ahead of the presidential election scheduled for January 2027, where President Tinubu is expected to fly the APC flag.
While the official visit to the State Government House was framed as a courtesy call, Basiru confirmed that federal politics dominated the discussion.
According to a Facebook post and video shared by the former senator, the visit served three main purposes: felicitating with Governor Adeleke on his victory in the August 15, 2026, Osun State gubernatorial poll; expressing appreciation for the governor’s supportive visit during the burial of Basiru’s late mother; and strategising on how to deliver Osun State for President Tinubu in 2027, aligning with a previous commitment made by the governor.
In His Own Words
“On a congratulatory visit to His Excellency, Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, on his victory at the polls, and to specially appreciate him for his visit during the burial of my late mother, as well as to discuss how to deliver Osun for Mr. President, as promised by Governor Ademola Adeleke, in the 2027 Presidential Election,” Basiru posted.
The meeting was moderated by the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi.
