The election petition tribunal sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has dismissed the petition of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in March 9, 2019 governorship election, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu against the victory of Governor Seyi Makinde.

In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Sirajo Muhammed on behalf of the three-member panel, the tribunal averred that the petitioners, Chief Bayo Adelabu and the All Progressives Congress(APC) failed to prove the allegation of corrupt pratices, overvoting, improper accreditation, inaccurate ballot counting and non-compliance with the 2010 electoral act as amended.

OYOINSIGHT.COM recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had announced Makinde as the winner of the election.

Not satisfied after studying results in units, wards and local government area, Adelabu had gone to court to challenge Makinde’s victory.

After many weeks of legal fireworks, the governorship election petition tribunal recently admitted the final written addresses filed by Makinde, Adelabu, PDP and INEC.

This newspaper had also reported how notable members of the ruling PDP and opposition APC, stormed the court as the governorship election petition tribunal began judgement delivery earlier this morning.OYOINSIGHT.COM had observed that many party faithful arrived the court premises as early as 6 am, only to meet security operatives on ground.Apart from lawyers and those who have genuine business to do within the premises, those who were granted access were screened.OYOINSIGHT.COM can report that the judges commenced reading of the judgement around 10:15 am.
