Army Hosts Ceremonial Pull-Out For Retiring Major Generals In Lagos

On Friday, October 25, 2024, the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) hosted a ceremonial pull-out to honor five retiring Major Generals at its headquarters in Abalti Barracks, Surulere, Lagos.

The ceremony marked a poignant moment of reflection as the officers shared experiences from their distinguished careers, highlighting the challenges and achievements that defined their service.

Maj Gen Omotomilola Akintade, who served as the Reviewing Officer, spoke on behalf of the retiring generals, recounting the resilience required throughout their careers amid both conflict and peace. Reflecting on the unexpected challenges that emerged after their initial training at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Maj Gen Akintade expressed pride in his time with the NAOC. He encouraged active personnel to uphold the values of loyalty, professionalism, and dedication, urging them to avoid actions that could harm the reputation of the Ordnance Corps and the Nigerian Army (NA).

In his farewell remarks, Maj Gen Akintade extended his appreciation to the NA  for the diverse opportunities he and his colleagues received, both at home and abroad. He thanked the current Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, and his predecessors for their commitment to building a strong and capable Ordnance Corps that steadfastly supports the NA in times of peace and conflict.
