Billionaire Tonye Cole Is Happy Again

Tonye Patrick Cole, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, is a happy man again.

And the reason for his present state of mind is straightforward, a court judgment that knocked him off as the governorship candidate of the APC has just been dismissed.

The suit – a dual citizenship case – that reportedly gave the billionaire businessman turned politician sleepless nights was instituted by one Bernard Mikko.

Mr. Cole, a co-founder of Sahara Group – an energy conglomerate -, intimated his supporters of the latest development in a Facebook post on Thursday, December 1, 2022.

“My people, recall that a suit was filed against me by Bernard Mikko, seeking to dismiss my candidacy as the flag bearer of the APC for the gubernatorial election to prevent me from contesting in the 2023 election.
You all prayed, waited, stood, fought and believed in me and today I am pleased to inform you all that the suit has been dismissed in my favour for lack of merit.
I want to thank every one of you for staying true to the party and again use this medium to remind you all that the APC Rivers State will be on the ballot come 2023.
We continue to remain fearless and unshakable and move”, his message to his supporters reads.

Mr. Cole, who enjoys the backing of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the former minister of Transportation in the cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari, has a major contender in incumbent Governor Nyesom Wike’s anointed candidate, Siminalaye Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
