“Contextually Misunderstood” – Niger Govt Clarifies Statement Gov Bago Regrets Securing N1trn Loan

Niger State Government says it remains resolute and committed to its infrastructural development as well as delivering on its New Niger Agenda.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Chief Press Secretary to Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, Bologi Ibrahim explained that the Farmer Governor is so passionate about the Urban — Rural Renewal Projects in the state, hence, his Boss feels saddened by the slow pace of work on some projects.

Bologi Ibrahim, however, said the now viral statement online, that Farmer Governor Bago “regrets securing a N1Trillion loan for the state’s Urban — Rural Renewal Projects instead of N500 Billion”, was contextually misunderstood.

The Chief Press Secretary said the farmer Governor has at different fora reiterated that he has enough funds to execute all the ongoing projects in the State.

He said, at the meeting with the contractors handling various projects in the state, the Farmer Governor  expressed his apprehension over delays in projects execution but couldn’t have “regretted” (in the actual sense of the word)

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor said claims suggesting regret are a misrepresentation of the position and intent of the farmer Governor.

He said the State Government is commencing the second phase of its Urban — Rural Renewal Projects by the end of this year , God’s willing, and Farmer Governor Umaru Bago will surely not accept drawbacks on the ongoing projects from the contractors, especially when the funds are available.

Bologi Ibrahim assured that the state government is judiciously utilising the state resources and dismissed concerns about potential strains on the state.

The Chief Press Secretary urged the Public to disregard the unfounded and misleading report as famer Governor Umaru Bago has always prioritised transparency in financial matters by publishing financial statements of the state in national dailies.
