Deputy Governorship Ambition Talks Trail Amosun’s Man, Akinlade

There are indications that a former governorship candidate in Ogun State, Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade is eying the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship ticket.

Akinlade, who is married to Chinenye Ocuba – a former beauty queen – wants to be the running mate of Ladi Adebutu, the candidate of the opposition PDP in Ogun State, available information has revealed.

The ex-federal lawmaker, who has just announced his resignation from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) once again, is one of the closest men of former governor Ibikunle Amosun, highstreet.ng understands.

With the backing of then-Governor Amosun, he left the APC to contest the 2019 gubernatorial election on the platform of the less popular Allied Peoples Movement (APM) against Governor Dapo Abiodun.

He came 2nd in the contest with 222,153 votes, while Mr. Dapo Abiodun polled 241,670 votes.

He returned to APC – the political platform under which he represented Egbado South and Ipokia federal constituency in the House of Representatives in 2015 – after failed attempts to upturn Gov Abiodun’s Victory at the election tribunal and the Supreme Court.

Again he has left the ruling party and reportedly has his eye on the deputy governorship seat of the South West state.
