emPLE Celebrates Valentine’s Day With Intentional Love

Valentine’s Day is usually marked with roses, candlelit dinners, and grand romantic gestures. But this year, emPLE chose to celebrate something quieter, deeper, and much more enduring. Love as an act of protection.

Through its thoughtfully curated #ProtectionAsLove campaign, the insurer encouraged couples to consider a different kind of romance, one defined not only by affection but also by intention. It’s about the small decisions made every day to protect a shared future.
At the heart of the campaign was a simple yet powerful question: What if love is also protection?

Couples across Nigeria shared heartfelt stories of partnership, sacrifice, resilience, and intentional planning. Their entries highlighted not of lavish gestures but of practical commitments, discussions about stability, choices made for the future, and promises rooted in responsibility.

From many heartfelt submissions, two couples, Solomon-Aigbe Mojisola and Kudirat Olanrewaju Dosunmu, stood out as powerful examples of deliberate love. Their stories reflected what emPLE describes as the emotional truth behind insurance: care made visible through action.

To honor their journeys, emPLE hosted an all-expenses-paid premium Valentine’s experience, carefully curated to reflect the depth of commitment shown in their stories. The evening was not just about celebration; it was about affirmation, recognizing that love flourishes where trust and security are present.

Speaking about the inspiration for the campaign, Olalekan Oyinlade, Managing Director/CEO of emPLE General Insurance Limited, said that the initiative aimed to make the idea of protection more human.
“Romance is beautiful,” he said, “but continuity is powerful. When you protect someone, you are telling them that your commitment extends beyond today.”

Jolaolu Fakoya, Acting Managing Director/CEO of emPLE Life Assurance Limited, stated that the strongest relationships are founded on a shared vision.
“We believe that planning together fosters true stability. Choosing protection is a conscious decision that demonstrates your responsibility for your partner and family’s future. That’s what intentional love looks like,” he said.

In rethinking Valentine’s Day through the perspective of foresight and shared responsibility, emPLE embraced a modern view of love — one that understands that stability, preparedness, and security are just as important as flowers and fine dining.

Beyond the romance, the ProtectionAsLove campaign subtly emphasizes a broader cultural shift, showing that love today is more about partnership in planning and shared accountability.

This Valentine’s season, emPLE did not simply sponsor date nights. It celebrated the kind of love that says, “I am thinking of our tomorrow.”
