Ex Bank Chief Tokunbo Abiru Wins Lagos East Senatorial Bye-Election

Tokunbo Abiru, the former Chief Executive Officer of Polaris Bank and candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of Lagos East senatorial bye-election.

The contest held on Saturday, December 5, 2020.

Mr Abiru was announced the winner by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for the by-election, Prof. Ademola Oremosu on Sunday December 6, 2020 at the Somolu Collation centre.

He polled a total of 89,204 votes to defeat his main challenger, Babatunde Olalere Gbadamosi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 89,204.

The former banker trounced the opposition candidate in all the five local government areas – Somolu, Epe, Ikorodu, Kosofe and Ibeju Lekki – in the senatorial district.
