Four Things You Should Know About MTN Foundation’s Scholarship

This year has been challenging, and it’s less than four months old. The inflation rate in Nigeria increased from 18% in 2022 to over 23% in April 2025. Of course, that means the prices of everything has gone up. Everyone is ‘surviving’- from students, business people, employers, to employees.

Despite all the gloom, there are still some beautiful things happening. Speaking of beautiful things and requiring less money, the MTN Foundation Scholarship programme is open for applications. It’s a ray of hope and peace of mind for Nigerian students.

So, here are four things that every Nigerian student looking to get a scholarship should know right now:

  1. Applications Are Open:

On March 28, 2025, applications for the MTN Foundation Scholarship edition began, and Nigerian students across the nation are excited! The excitement is understandable – a scholarship would mean that the stress and frustrations about paying tuition will be out of the picture.

Schooling is tough on its own, and still, not everyone can afford it. So, we feel their excitement and we couldn’t be happier.

P.S. Applications close on April 25, 2025.

2. For The Blind or Science and Tech Students:

The scholarship has a simple focus: providing tuition fees for successful applicants who are either blind or are studying a science or technology-related course in a public tertiary institution in Nigeria.

3. It’s a N300,000 Peace of Mind:

For the successful applicants, the scholarship grant is worth N300,000.00 annually till graduation if they maintain the required grades.

4. Over 14,700 Scholarships:

Since the scheme began 15 years ago, 14,728 scholarships have been awarded to 5,349 students who can boast that they are scholars under the scheme!

That’s a lot of money and a lot of people. By our estimation of N200,000 per scholar each year and N300,000 since 2024, the MTN Foundation has invested over N3 billion in scholarships alone!
