Glo Sponsored African Voices To Feature Moroccan Born US Rapper

This week’s edition of the Glo sponsored African Voices Changemakers on CNN, will showcase Morrocan-American rapper, MC French Montana, also known as Karim Kharbouch.

MC French Montana was born on 9 November 1984 and is a well-known rapper with 41 platinum hits to his name so far in his stellar career.

Larry Madowo, the anchor of African Voices Changemakers, caught up with him at his home in Los Angeles and also accompanied the singer to New York City for launch of his new documentary detailing his life from the years of struggling immigrant to stardom as a multimillionaire superstar.

The successful singer, who emigrated with his family at 13 to the United States, founded Coke Boys Records and its predecessor, Cocaine City Records.

He also signed a joint-venture record deal with Puff Daddy’s Bad Boy Records and Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group in 2012. His hit track, “Quarter to Eight,” was the first of several collabos with Rick Ross, himself a legendary musical artist. He has won several awards including the Best Club Banger Award which he won at the BET Hip Hop Awards in 2013.

He has also received several nominations. In 2016, he was nominated twice in the Best Rap Song Category and in 2017 for the Best Rap Performance at the Grammy Awards.

The 30-minute magazine programme runs on DSTV Channel 401 on Saturday at 2:00p.m with repeat editions on Sunday at 4.30a.m and 7.30p.m. The edition will again be repeated next week Saturday at 12.30p.m, 4.30a.m and Sunday at 7.30p.m.
