Gov Bago Lauds Initiative To 10,000 Youths & Women In Agriculture, Creative Sector

10,000 Youths including women between the ages of 18 and 35 across Niger State are to be trained in Agriculture and the creative industry among other sectors.

The training is under the Transforming Nigerian Youth project, in partnership between the Programmes and Partnerships Enterprise Development Centre, Pan-Atlantic University; Master card foundation; and the Niger State government.

Speaking to the delegation of the Programmes and Partnerships Enterprise Development Centre, Pan-Atlantic University, who were on a visit to the Government House Minna, farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago applauded the initiative which he acknowledged that it will ensure human capital development.

He reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to collaborate with development partners in training youths, women, and even people with disabilities to make them self-reliant and that going forward, the State government will upscale the number of beneficiaries.

The leader of the delegation and Director, Programmes and Partnerships Enterprise Development Centre, Pan-Atlantic University, Dr. Olawale Anifowose explained that the Centre is currently training 50 Nigerlites as consultants to be certified as business development service providers for Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises that will in turn train the 10,000 youths and women across the State.

Dr. Anifowose said the project commended the farmer Governor for the rapid development his administration is bringing to the State and the support he is giving to the Centre to ensure the desired objective is achieved.

He revealed that beneficiaries of the training are expected to receive support that will help them transition from the informal to formal sector and enable them showcase their products within and outside Nigeria.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Social Investment Programme, Hauwa Bako described the partnership as a sheer commitment of the State Government to investing in people, especially youths and women for sustainable development.
