Gov Eno Honoured In Ghana, Egypt For Impactful Governance

The inclusive and people – centric leadership disposition of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has continued to receive plaudits with the latest coming from Millennium Excellence Prize in Kumasi, Ghana, and the African Women Summit in Cairo, Egypt.

While the Millennium Excellence Prize in Ghana honoured Governor Eno with the prestigious Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize (LAAP), the African Women Summit honoured him for women inclusion in his leadership and for supporting women in the State to dare to rise, excel, achieve, and make  impacts.

The LAAP was presented at a grand ceremony held at the Dome of the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, on Saturday, May 11,2025, while that of the African Women Summit was part of its 6th summit which took place between May 8 to 10, 2025 at Royal Tulip, Cairo.

Other recipients of the prestigious Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize (LAAP) were President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria and  President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana.

According to the presenter, “The honour was in recognition of their impactful leadership and unwavering dedication to excellence in public service across Africa.

In the citation plaque presented  to Governor Eno, the organizers commended him for his “special commitment to agriculture, rural development, and social welfare for the people of Akwa Ibom State,” noting that his efforts in positively transforming the livelihoods of millions living in rural communities were worthy of celebration.

The citation further stated: “This award is a testament to our collective appreciation and a reminder that the similitude of positive influence is like that of a bright glowing lamp in the depths of darkness.”

Governor Eno was  represented at the event by his Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, supported by the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah.

At the 6th African Women Summit, the Governor was represented by the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Eno Obareki.

The  Life Patron of Millennium  Execellence Foundation and host of the event, Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, appreciated the recipients, noting that their hard work and commitment to service had earned them the recognition and honour bestowed.

President of the Foundation, Ambassador Nana Morton Prempeh expressed heartfelt thanks to all who attended the ceremony, describing their honour as well deserved, noting that LAAP has evolved over the last twenty five years celebrating African leaders whose transformative work inspires progress and hope across the continent.

Both awards were later presented to the Governor at the part two of a Special thanksgiving service in his honour at The Apostolic Church, Maboju, Lagos.
