Gov Eno Signs N1.584trn 2026 Budget Into Law

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo  Eno, PhD, has signed into law the ₦1,584,271,856,630.00 Appropriation Bill for the 2026 fiscal year.

Of the total budget size, ₦416,594,925,850.00, representing 24 per cent, is allocated to recurrent expenditure, while ₦1,167,676,930,780.00, representing 76 per cent, is devoted to capital projects. The deliberate adoption of the 76% / 24% capital-to-recurrent expenditure ratio reflects his administration’s resolve to prioritise infrastructure development, stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and ensure that public resources are invested in projects that deliver long-term value and measurable impact for the people of Akwa Ibom State.

The budget-signing ceremony took place during an enlarged State Executive Council meeting at the EXCO Chambers, Government House, Uyo, with the leadership of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in attendance, led by the Speaker, Elder Udeme Otong.

Governor Eno commended the synergy between the Executive , Legislature and the Judiciary noting that the collaborative relationship accounted for the numerous achievements recorded by the State Government in the previous year.

The Governor charged members of the State Executive Council to demonstrate total commitment and passion in service delivery, warning that excuses for non-performance would not be tolerated in 2026.

“We must all rededicate ourselves to delivering our responsibilities promptly and decisively. This year is not a year for excuses; it is a year for action,” the Governor declared.

Earlier, the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Elder Udeme Otong, praised the Governor for transparency and inclusive governance, affirming the Legislature’s readiness to sustain collaboration with the Executive.

Earlier in the day, Governor Eno presented the Commissioner of the Year Award to the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia, in recognition of his outstanding leadership and the successful delivery of Christmas Unplugged 3.0.
