The 2019 Batch ‘C’ (stream two) corps members have been charged to be determined to serve their fatherland in a unique dimension. This charge was given by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state at the permanent orientation camp, Iseyin during the closing ceremony of the 3-week induction course organized for the corps members. He asserted that those who have been found to excel in their chosen career or life endeavours were those that served humanity in an extraordinary manner.

Makinde who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner, Youth and Sports, Hon. Seun Fakorede, emphasized more on rural posting where the corps members’ services were most needed. “I expect that your postings would have been effected in a way that the rural communities would not be at a disadvantage.” He therefore enjoined the corps members to accept their postings in good faith and make sure they impact positively on their host communities. He equally tasked them to unleash their potentials and allow the younger ones to tap from their reservoir of knowledge acquired at their various institutions of learning.

Earlier in her address, the State Coordinator, NYSC Oyo State, Eniola Ambekemo charged the corps members to exhibit and nurture the leadership traits in them by dreaming big and creating visions that will outlast them in any community they find themselves. She equally warned the young graduates to steer clear of any act of indiscipline or anti-social behavior. “It is very important that you uphold the lofty ideals of the NYSC as you commence the second and the third phases of national service. Let me warn you that any act of truancy or indiscipline on your part will be met with appropriate sanctions”.

The highlight of the ceremony was a beautiful display of parade by the corps members and the rendition of hearty cheers to Gov. Seyi Makinde.
