Gov Makinde’s Deputy, Olaniyan Tells What Will Determine His Joining APC

Rauf Olaniyan, the Deputy Governor in the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has disclosed what will determine his dumping the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In statement credited to him, Olaniyan, who insisted he is still a member of the ruling party in Oyo State, stated his political future depends solely on directions from his maker.

“I am a Muslim, and Allah determines my movement. So, if Allah says wait in PDP, I’ll wait, if He says I should go to APC, I will go, and if he says I shouldn’t go to either APC or PDP but elsewhere, that’s what I will do. Or if he says I should go away from politics, I will go away. I am not looking for what to eat or drink, let’s just wait for God to speak and we will know what to do”, he reportedly said.

The statement, according to information, is in reactions to the rumour making the rounds that he has resigned from the PDP, and that the ruling APC is his new political party of choice.

He clarified that maintaining a distance from political activities in the state does not translate to quitting the PDP.

He further explained that people keep saying all sort of things because of his stand that he would not be part of “the shenanigans that surrounded the selection of PDP candidates for the 2023 elections”.

Interestingly, Mr Olaniyan is reported to be having a running battles with his principal, Governor Seyi Makinde for some time now
