Two powerful women in the scheme of things in Osun State are engaged in a discreet fight.

And they are no other individuals than Alhaja Sherifat Aregbesola and the current first lady, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola.

Alhaja Sherifat is the wife of Rauf Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State and current minister for interior in the government of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mrs Aregbesola was said to be very influential when her husband was in charge as number one person in Osun state. Interestingly, the incumbent Governor’s wife – Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, highstreet.ng findings showed, is enjoying the same status at the moment.

According to information pieced together, their fight is an offshoot of political differences between their husbands – incumbent Oyetola and former governor Rauf Aregbesola.

They are at present taking side with their spouses, highstreet.ng reliably gathered.

Those who are familiar with the situation maintained Governor Oyetola’s wife is solidly behind him in the rift between him and his predecessor. While Mrs Aregbesola is, also, said to be doing the same for her husband.

It is in the public space that discord of sort exists between Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the man he took over from, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola over who is really in charge of the new government in Osun State.

The conflict between the two women recently got to the peak when Mrs Oyetola openly confronted former governor Aregbesola’s wife that she had expected the Aregbsolas to support her hubby’s government the way they (Oyetola and wife) supported Aregbesola, even before his emergence as governor of Osun State, a source disclosed.

“But what we are getting is obviously the opposite”, she was said to have told Mrs. Aregbesola.

Rauf Aregbesola, a close ally of the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was a two-term governor of Osun state. His reign was between 2010 and 2018.

Oyetola, on the other hand, served in his administration as Chief of Staff to the governor throughout the eight years.

But surprisingly, Aregbesola moved against his Chief of Staff in his bid to succeed him.

And their present differences, according to sources, has root in this development.

But despite alleged opposition from the man he served in his government as Chief of Staff Oyetola emerged the ruling party All Progressives Congress’ candidate and went ahead to win the 2018 gubernatorial election for his party.

Ex governor Aregbesola and incumbent Oyetola’s relationship became more tensed when the former attempted to make his son – Kabiru Aregbesola – chief of staff to his successor.

And expectedly, the move was rejected by governor Oyetola.
