Gov Sanwo-Olu Joins NOVA Bank To Launch Its First Commercial Bank Branch

NOVA Bank has officially commenced commercial banking operations with the launch of its first commercial bank branch.

Located on Kofo Abayomi Street, Victoria Island, the branch equipped with state-of-the-art facilities was unveiled on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

 NOVA Bank – with Phillip Oduoza and Adebowale Oyedeji as Chairman and Managing Director respectively – in January 2024, after over five years of operation as a Merchant Bank, announced its transition to a commercial bank.

The event – with eminent personalities like CEO of Techno Oil; Pratap Mahendra of Wandel Group; Group Managing Director of FBN Holdings, Nnamdi Okonkwo; Lagos Commissioners for Finance and Economic Planning and Budget; Abayomi Oluyomi and Mosopefolu George in attendance – had the Executive Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the special guest of honour.

Sanwo-Olu, who hailed the Chairman, Oduoza, the board, and management of the NOVA Bank for putting in much hard work that transformed the bank into what it is today, immediately after giving his speech was ushered to the entrance of the structure where he performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Delivering his speech at the event, the Managing Director of the financial institution which prides itself as a provider of “end to end financial services solutions covering corporate banking, investment banking, advisory, capital markets, wealth and asset management”, Adebowale Oyedeji disclosed that commitment to innovation, resilience in its approach and keeping customers at its heart make its transition to commercial banking seamless.

He said, “Our transition to commercial banking is a testament to our commitment to innovation, excellence, and customer-centricity. We have navigated this journey with resilience and determination, always keeping our customers at the heart of everything we do.”

Adebowale Oyedeji also said “As we embark on this new chapter, we are excited to introduce our PHYGITAL model, which blends the best aspects of physical and digital banking services. This innovative approach combines the personal touch and relationship-building of in-person branch interactions with the convenience and efficiency of digital platforms. Our goal is to provide a seamless banking experience that meets the evolving needs of our customers.

We are proud to announce that NOVA will soon be opening additional PHYGITAL branches in Ikeja, Apapa, Abuja, Ph and Kano.
