Gunmen, said to be in military uniform, have abducted the chairman of the Okene branch of the Peoples Democratic Party, Musa Adelabu.

The Kogi State chairman of the party, Sam Uhuotu, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, said the abduction of Adelabu was an indication that Kogi State was not safe to live in.

He said gunmen dressed in military uniform invaded the house of the local government party chairman and whisked him away at about 1am on Saturday.

He described the invasion and abduction as one too many.

The state chairman lamented that members of the PDP in the state in the last week had been consistently harassed by men dressed in security uniforms.

He said the whereabouts of Adelabu was unknown as of press time, lamenting that the PDP Chairman has been held incommunicado.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, however, said the police were not aware of the abduction as no one reported anything of such.

“It is only when we get such a report that we will treat it as an issue, but for now, it’s not an issue,” Aya said.
