Here Are The Reasons United Capital Is Success Story Under Peter Ashade’s Watch

Facts don’t lie.

As of October 2022, the highlights of the performance – compared to last year – of the United Capital plc, the corporation ranked by Financial Times as one of Africa’s fastest-growing companies are, Profit Before Tax – N9.12billion (2022), N7.09billion (2021); Profit After Tax – N7.72billion (2022), N5.971b (2021); Gross earnings – N14.45billion (2022), N11.53b (2021); Total Assets – 595.97b (2022), 453.60b (2021) and Earnings Per Koob N171 (2022), N133 (2021).

And at the heart of front-row doings of the financial and investment services provider is Peter Ashade, the United Capital Group Executive officer named “African CEO Of The Year” at the 2022 African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) in July.

Ashade beat off the likes of James Githii Mburu, CEO of Kenya Revenue Authority, and other nominees, including the CEOs of Banque Centrale Populaire, Morocco, and Finance Trust Bank, Uganda to be presented the award at the 7th Africa Summit held at the House of Lords, London, United Kingdom

The checks by SocietyNow.Ng revealed that industry watchers are not surprised by United Capital’s feats since Ashade took over as Group Chief Executive Officer in 2018.

“Check of his track record and complement the findings with a glimpse into his kind of person and you’ll have a clear picture” SocietyNow.Ng gathered.

The checks by SocietyNow.Ng revealed that as the Managing Director at Africa Prudential Plc, his immediate past place of employment, Ashade recorded 15,000% growth in eight years with the added record of making the company the only investor services firm to be listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange.

The information available revealed that experience has helped him to improve on the knack that achieved that feat – and more.

According to those very familiar with the leadership style of Ashade, his comments when he won the African CEO Award provide a very telling insight into his kind of person.

L-R: Bawo Ortisejafor, MD, United Capital Securities Ltd, Buky Ikeotuonye, MD, United Capital Trustees Ltd, Gbadebo Aderenle, MD, United Capital Investment Bank, Sunny Anene, Deputy Group CEO, United Capital Plc, Odiri Oginni, MD, United Capital Asset Management Ltd, Adetola Fasuyi, Head, Wealth Management, United Capital Plc, at the 2022 PEARL Award Ceremony.

“While the name inscribed on this plaque is mine, the true winners of this award are the board, executive management, and staff of United Capital Plc who are fully committed to our mission of providing best-in-class financial services to our customers and shareholders while gradually changing the narrative of African financial service offerings. This is a testament of our grit, hard work, and perseverance. I would also like to specially acknowledge the Chairman of Heirs Holdings, Tony O. Elumelu (CON), whose contribution to the development of the African continent is worthy of emulation.” Ashade stated in his acceptance speech.

“He knows his onions and he is a team player. Knows how to get everybody to work together for the best result without compromising standards,” SocietyNow.Ng learned.

Further checks revealed that it has also been of immense help that Ashade who is a fellow of different professional bodies including the Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Bankers, and Institute of Capital Market Registrars is working with a team of exemplary performers.

It is another testament to how good the team is that United Capital plc just won the 2022 Sectoral Leadership Award at the Performance Earnings and Returns Leadership Award (pearl award).

Staying firm and bountifully contributing to the fact sheets that have transformed United Capital into what Financial times described as one of Africa’s growing companies are Sunny Anene – the Deputy Group CEO: Bawo Ortisejafor- the Managing Director, United Capital Securities Ltd: Buky Ikeotuonye – the Managing Director, United Capital Trustees Ltd: Gbadebo Aderenle – Managing Director, United Capital Investment Bank: Odiri Oginni- the Managing Director, United Capital Asset Management Ltd and Adetola Fasuyi – the Head, Wealth Management, United Capital Plc.

With over 30 years of experience under his belt, Ashade oversees operations at the Group keenly working towards becoming the financial and investment role model across Africa and a one-stop place for innovative and creative investment banking solutions to governments, companies, and individuals.

And insiders insist that the Master’s Degree holder in Marketing from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and in Finance from the University of Lagos is doing very well based on results and laurels – and clients and shareholders earnings.
