Here Are The Unforgettable Moments From #ALATFoodChallenge

It’s no news that good food and money are two of the quickest ways to the heart of many Nigerians. So imagine what happens when we are presented with both. In the first episode of the #ALATFoodChallenge, we caught some hilarious moments as the two teams battled it out for the grand prize. The challenge is a speed-eating competition that allows young challengers (who sign up on the ALAT by Wema Bank app with the ‘SQUAD’ code) to compete for the prize of ₦100,000.

For the very first episode of the series, we met Williams Destiny and Emu OgheneMaro, Team A members, and Esther Fadipe and Oghenekevwe Osodi aka Kelsodi, members of Team B as they battled for the grand prize. Here are some of the interesting moments from the episode:

1. First Glimpse Of The Spicy Turkey Overload:

That moment the tray of spicy fried turkey was carried in was priceless. Williams Destiny of Team A was stunned silent for about 15 seconds. The next thing we heard was, ‘can we start?’ One would think Destiny’s energy would end with a bank alert. Oh well, the race is not for the ‘gingered’.

2. Face Stuffing:

Rather than swallow the turkey, Destiny kept stuffing his mouth till it looked like he could no longer breathe and he was going to explode pretty soon. About thirty seconds to the end of the challenge, he had lost his ability to speak while his opponent breezed through it.

3. The Walk Out:

Erm… It got to a point that Destiny got up and left. *cringes* It was obvious that the slow but steady, Esther, had won the game. Sorry, Destiny! We rooted for you too.

4. Turkey-Bone Victory:

One would think that after winning the game, Team B would put away the food out of exhaustion. Well, that wasn’t the case. Esther continued to crush the turkey bones to finish what she had started, then she used the bones to sign out in victory. Who does that?! Winning the money may have given her some extra energy to celebrate.
