Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, the new Oniru of Iru Land wants to transform his domain to be an envy of others, those who are privy to his plans have revealed.
Oba Abdulwasiu Lawal – Abisogun II – who is the 15th Oniru had his coronation ceremony on Sunday, September 6, 2020.
He had earlier been presented with the staff of office as the new Oniru of Iru Land by the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on June 7, 2020.
Within the short period of his ascending the throne of his father, he has already set the ball rolling.
And HRM Abisogun II Foundation (HAIIF) is the initiative the new Oniru has employed to drive his transformation agenda for the kingdom, highstreet.ng understands.
Those who are familiar with the concept (HAIIF) revealed it to be a Private and independent initiative emplaced to see to the sustainable development of Iru Kingdom.
Iru Empowerment Hub Pilot – an arm of HAIIF – which takes care of the less privileged, especially women, has already swung into action with commendations rolling in, left, right and centre for the newly installed Oniru.
Launched on July 26, 2020, with Mrs. Folorunsho Olaniyan as an administrator, Iru Empowerment Hub Pilot has so far put smiles on the faces of 32 women with 50 thousand Naira each for a start-up agri-produce business.
Olaniyan who spoke passionately about the empowerment at a media engagement held on Wednesday, September 9, 2020, in commemoration of the installation of Oba Gbolahan Lawal as Oniru revealed the foundation plans to increase the number of beneficiaries to 2000 over the next 2 years.
“You know HAIIF is a private and non-profit organization, so, we welcome all sorts of support we can get to achieve our goals”, she said.
Palace sources also disclosed, “Oba Oniru desires to have a better managed Iru Land, a refuse free environment, where Waste… especially plastic waste is taken to the recycling plant… And a partnership arrangement to get this done has been concluded.”
Available Information also showed Oba Oniru craves an Iru Land with improved roads, power supply, Oniru waterfront with an inviting environment among other things that make lives worthwhile for all.
Plans are also underway, according to information gathered, to engage service providers for broadband internet facilities within the estate while aggressive street lighting is said to be ongoing.
