How Ademola Adeleke Won PDP Ticket For July 16 Guber Election

Ademola Adeleke has emerged the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Osun State.

Adeleke, a former senator, polled 1,887 votes to defeat other contenders for the opposition party’s ticket.

Those who have access to the arrangement that led to his eventual emergence maintained the contest became effortless for him following the withdrawal of another popular aspirant Akin Ogunbiyi, who is the chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance.

With Senator Abiye Sekibo as the Chief Electoral Officer, the primary election held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at the Osogbo Stadium saw his challengers, Fatai Akibade, Dele Adeleke, Sanya Omirin and Dotun Babayemi scoring less than 10 votes altogether.

The dancing senator, as Adeleke is fondly called, will battle incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola at governorship election scheduled to hold on Saturday, July 16, 2022.

Interestingly, reelection seeking Governor Oyetola, with a slim merging, defeated Mr Adeleke during the 2018 contest.
