Gbolahan Lawal has been announced as Oba-Elect of Iruland.

His appointment as the monarch elect of upscale Lagos community was made known on Friday, June 5, 2020, by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration.

Lawal was the immediate past Commissioner for Agriculture in the state.

Interestingly, his appointment as Oniru of Iruland came to be barely 24hours after he announced his resignation from Governor Sanwo-Olu’s cabinet.

Checks revealed him to be a close confidant of national leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu whom he served as ADC while in office as Governor of Lagos State.

And those are familiar with activities that heralded Prince Gbolahan Lawal emergence as the new occupier of Oniru throne maintained his relationship with Asiwaju significantly swung the position his way.

Prince Gbolahan Lawal, succeeds late Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru, former Oniru of Iruland, who passed on in the year 2019 at the age of 82.
