Hushpuppi: Panel Yet To Submit Report On Abba Kyari, Police Say
The police authority in Nigeria has denied a report in the media that the Special Investigation Panel looking into indictment of Abba Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner Of Police, by the FBI, has submitted its report.
Abba Kyari is the suspended head of Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
His suspension was in connection with allegations of benefitting from proceeds of crime perpetrated by Instagram celebrity, Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.
Mr Ramon Abbas, who is in custody in the United State of America, has pleaded guilty to the allegations of fraud brought his person.
The IGP Usman Alkali Baba led Nigeria Police Force said this in a statement made available by its Public Relations Office, CP Frank MBA on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
The statement titled “NPF SPECIAL INVESTIGATION PANEL ON DCP ABBA KYARI YET TO SUBMIT REPORT” reads:
The Nigeria Police Force wishes to inform the general public that the probe into the alleged indictment of DCP Abba Kyari by the FBI, being conducted by the NPF Special Investigation Panel (SIP), is still ongoing.
Members of the public are enjoined to note that the panel has not submitted its report to the Inspector General of Police, as being wrongly reported in some news outlet and online platforms.
The Force hereby reassures the public that the outcome of investigations by the probe panel would be communicated accordingly upon conclusion of the investigations.
