Marcus Onobun Emerges Edo Assembly New Speaker

Marcus Onobun, the member representing Esan West State Constituency, has been sworn-in as the new Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly.

The development came to be today, October 12, 2020, after the impeachment of the former Speaker, Francis Okiye.

Okiye represents the people of Esan North East 1 State constituency.

According to information, nine out 10 members present during the Monday brief sitting signed Mr Okiye’s impeachment letter.

Majority Leader, Henry Okhurobo reportedly moved the motion for the impeachment.
