Meet Oyetola’s Appointee Who Wants To Stop Omisore From Returning To The Senate
There are indications that Otunba Iyiola Omisore’s bid to corner the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Osun East Senatorial seat may not be as straightforward as expected, information pieced together by highstreet.ng has suggested.
According to sources, Mr Omisore, a former Deputy Governor and two-term senator, has a challenger in Ajibola Famurewa, one of the appointees of reelection seeking Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
Famurewa, a former two-term federal lawmaker (from 2011 to 2019), who was the senatorial candidate of the ruling APC for Osun East in the last general elections, headed Ilerioluwa campaign Organization – the platform that produced Mr Oyetola as governor in 2018.
Interestingly, he was handed the senatorial ticket in spite of the “gentle arrangement” the party had with Omisore who played a vital role in the emergence of incumbent governor Oyetola that he would be appreciated with the slot, highstreet.ng understands.
Mr Famurewa reportedly has former governor Rauf Aregbesola to thank for the ruling party’s eventual decision on the senatorial ticket.

But he was eventually trounced at the poll in 2019 by the Adenigba Fadahunsi, a retired customs officer and the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A relief of sort came his way when governor Oyetola announced him as the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
And now Mr Famurewa has commenced underground work to have a another shot at the senatorial contest, checks by highstreet.ng indicated.
“He’s challenging Omisore to the ticket… he has intimated his supporters and moves towards making things happen and swing the ticket his way are being worked on. You know he got the ticked the last even when we all thought Omisore will get, a source who is familiar with the agenda stated.
