MTN Foundation Increases Annual Scholarship For UTME Top Scorers

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the top scorers in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This disclosure was made by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during the Board’s policy meeting in Abuja.

In a bid to promote academic excellence, the MTN Foundation has increased its annual scholarship for the highest-scoring candidates from ₦200,000 to ₦300,000 under its Top 10 UTME Scholarship programme. This initiative aims to recognize and reward the exceptional academic achievements of Nigerian students admitted into tertiary institutions.

Beyond recognizing the top ten UTME scorers, the programme provides financial support throughout their academic journey. Scholarship recipients can renew their funding annually, provided they maintain the required academic performance criteria. The UTME Scholarship programme is inclusive, catering to deserving students from both public and private tertiary institutions, irrespective of their preferred field of study.

The increased scholarship funding also extends to other initiatives under the MTN Foundation Scholarship Program including the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (MTN STS) for 300-level students studying science and technology-related courses, and the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (MTN SBS) eligible for 200 and 30- level blind students studying any course in public tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

Through these initiatives, MTN Foundation continues to set a benchmark for corporate investment in education, demonstrating its role as a catalyst for positive change in Nigeria’s educational landscape.
