Staff of MTN Nigeria Communications Plc on stage with the MTN Nigeria CEO, Ferdi Moolman.
MTN Nigeria Communication Plc hosted its employees, prestige customers, and stakeholders to a Special Dinner party in celebration of its successful listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in May 2019. The event, which took place on Wednesday, July 24th2019, presented a unique opportunity for the company to celebrate the milestone achievement, which interestingly happened to be the same day the first call was made on a MTN line by the company’s chairman, Dr. Pascal Dozie, 18 years ago.
In his welcome address, Chairman, MTN Nigeria Communication Plc, Dr. Pascal Dozie, said, “Tonight is a very solemn night for me. It is my privilege to welcome you all to this very special dinner. I am particularly happy to see longtime advisers, regulators, customers and people who have played diverse roles in shaping the course of our journey as a company, to where we are today. Tonight, we want to celebrate you, and say thank you, for all you have done. We would not have been here without you.”
Reminiscing on the company’s journey so far, Mr. Dozie said, “I must say that from the moment I made that first phone call on an MTN line, through the years leading up to the day the company listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange, it has been a journey of many high and some low points. As we prepare for the next phase of our journey, I remain optimistic, and I know that our future achievements will be much better than the success of the last 18 years.”
In his remarks, MTN Nigeria CEO, Ferdi Moolman, said he felt “lucky” and “blessed” to be leading the Nigerian arm of the business. He invited the staff of MTN to join him up stage. Thanking them for their hard work, and dedication to the company, Moolman said, “MTN is a small group of wonderful employees, people with passion who take their work seriously and comes to office daily full of passion. Thank you also to all of our clients for trusting us and using our products and services, and to the regulatory agencies too.”
