MTN Nigeria has thrown its weight behind female football in Nigeria by becoming platinum sponsor of the Aisha Buhari Cup. This sponsorship comes off the heels of a three-year agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), making MTN Nigeria the official communications sponsor of the Super Eagles and other national teams.

The much-anticipated Aisha Buhari Invitational Women’s Tournament will begin on Wednesday, September 15, 2021. The six-nation invitational brings together the A Women Teams hosts Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Mali, Morocco and South Africa. The tournament will be held at two venues – Mobolaji Johnson Arena and Agege Stadium in the City of Lagos.

Kicking off the tournament, Nine-time African champions, Super Falcons, will go against the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco in the opening match at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Wednesday.

Speaking on MTN Nigeria’s support for the national football teams, the Chief Executive Officer, Karl Toriola said, “Football is a unifying national obsession. It brings people together, breaks down boundaries, creates conversations and inspires. We are privileged to have this opportunity to partner with the NFF and to be able to support all Nigeria’s National Football teams over the next three years. This is the start of what we hope will be an inspiring, productive and value-adding partnership that can combine the role that technology plays, with the incredible experiences that football provides for the millions of Nigerians who follow the national teams.”
