This week saw five new episodes of MTV Shuga: Alone Together released, and there is so much to catch up on!

Leila’s nervousness about coronavirus hasn’t stopped yet. When Bongi calls her she is wearing a facemask even though she is alone in her house. Leila and Bongi have a good laugh over people spreading conspiracy theories about how 5G is responsible for the coronavirus. Leila also complains about how Tobi won’t stop calling her.  She thinks he is trying to get back into her life because he is bored in the lockdown

Bongi gets some shocking news and finds out that her aunt is sick with COVID-19.

Dineo is back after giving us such a scare with her last appearance on the show. She is talking with Daniel again, and she tried to open up about her relationship with Kabelo. She is tired of Kabelo’s autocratic ways, and how he is always complaining that nothing she does is good enough. Dineo is also concerned about Kabelo’s strange possessiveness – he doesn’t want her to go anywhere at all.  Unfortunately, Kabelo walks in on her conversation with Daniel, and once again, her call seems to abruptly (or violently?) cut off. Dineo is unreachable for a while after this, but when she finally gets in touch with Daniel, she tries to act as if nothing happened.

Meanwhile, in Nigeria, Tobi keeps ‘trying his luck’ to call Leila, but this time, she unexpectedly picks up his call. He drops a line about wanting to invite her for his concert before it was cancelled, but Leila knows it’s just Tobi’s excuse to try to get back into her life. She gives him a severe dressing down and lets him know that she is not interested in him anymore.

Tobi calls Leo, who doesn’t look great at all. Tobi doesn’t pick up on that and is excitedly trying to bounce off the idea of still holding the concert (online, this time). Leo barely has the energy to respond to Tobi, but when Tobi asks Leo if he thinks he’s got the virus, Leo says it’s just ‘something that went down the wrong pipe’.

Tobi is finally able to set up his online concert as he has been itching to do, and Vector performs! While the concert is going on, some serious things are happening in the lives of our MTV Shuga: Alone Together characters.

Bongi convinces Leila to join the concert because they both need a break from the craziness of reality, and as they are dancing to the music and having a good time, Bongi gets a call informing her that her Aunt Nomalanga has been rushed to the hospital.

Zamo is also following the concert and showing off her shaku shaku skills when she gets a call from a client asking for a home service manicure and pedicure. Zamo is obviously considering this – she needs the cash and she thinks she might not catch the coronavirus because she’s young and healthy- but we’re already here hoping that this does not end in tears.

Dineo and Daniel are vibing to the concert together, but Kabelo walks in on Dineo and the call ends abruptly again.

Dineo calls back Daniel in tears, and it is just as we feared. She has bruises from the beating Kabelo has given her.

Wasiu is also following the concert, but he’s barely paying attention. There’s no fun and games in this scene with Wasiu because he is obviously agitated. No one is buying the products he’s selling, he’s owing rent, he’s got no income, and he really needs cash.

Wasiu dresses up and makes moves to leave his room; he looks like a man that is ready to do anything. Catch up on the latest episodes of MTV Shuga: Alone Together here
