Nasarawa Deputy Gov Akabe Under Probe Over N500m COVID-19 Fund
The Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, may have put himself in trouble for allegedly spending N500m on COVID-19.
The PUNCH gathered that some members of the state House Assembly and other prominent stakeholders were not satisfied with how the money was spent.
The assembly has set up a six-man ad hoc committee to investigate the activities of the state Task Force on COVID-19.
The Speaker, Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi, announced the constitution of the committee after a lawmaker, Mr Daniel Ogazi, moved a motion under matters of public importance on the need for the House to monitor the activities of the task force.
The Speaker said, “This is a good motion and I wish to set up an ad hoc committee to monitor the activities of the state COVID-19 Task Force.
“Mr Abdullahi Angibi of Lafia Central Constituency is the chairman of the committee and Mr Usman the Labaran Shafa of Toto/Gadabuke Constituency is the vice-chairman of the committee.”
Reacting, the deputy governor said he actually advised members of the assembly to set up the committee to monitor the task force.
