Nigeria Customs Decorates Newly Promoted Officers

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Thursday, 23 January 2025, held a decoration ceremony for newly promoted officers at the Ahmed Makarfi Hall of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada. The event followed a similar exercise at the NCS Headquarters in Abuja on 22 January, marking the conclusion of the 2024 promotion exercise.

Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs (DCG) Suleiman Chiroma, recently appointed to oversee the Training and Doctrine Command, Gwagwalada, presided over the ceremony. Addressing the officers, he congratulated them on their elevation while emphasising the responsibilities that come with their new ranks.

“Promotion comes from God,” Chiroma said. “By this decoration, you have achieved a milestone and created a vacancy for others to rise. This is not by your wisdom or strength but by the special grace of God, and for that, we must give thanks. This promotion is a call to higher service, requiring you to rededicate yourselves, rejuvenate your efforts, and strengthen the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service.”

The Commandant of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC) Gwagwalada, Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) Oluyomi Adebakin, who was recently appointed and decorated as Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs also commended the officers for their hard work and dedication. She acknowledged the vital role played by the officers’ families, describing their support as instrumental to the officers’ success.

The ceremony reaffirmed the NCS’s commitment to recognising excellence and inspiring professionalism among its ranks. It also underscored the Service’s dedication to fostering leadership and enhancing capacity across all levels.
