Nigeria Customs, Zone ‘A’ Decorates 239 Senior Officers

The Nigeria Customs Service, Zone ‘A’, has decorated 239 senior officers who were recently promoted, in a ceremony held on Tuesday, 16 September 2025, at the Customs Training College in Lagos.

The Zonal Coordinator, Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) Mohammed Babandede, described the promotions as a testament to hard work, integrity, and the visionary leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi.

“Today’s ceremony represents more than just a change in rank. It symbolizes the Service’s confidence in your ability to lead, your proven track record of integrity, and your readiness to shoulder greater responsibilities in the service to our nation”, he stated.

Among those honoured were 18 officers elevated to the rank of Comptroller, 102 promoted to Deputy Comptroller, and 119 decorated as Assistant Comptrollers.

ACG Babandede emphasised that the promotions were not accidental but stemmed from merit and performance.

“Each insignia you receive today tells a story of countless acts of patriotic service that may have gone unnoticed by the public but have not been forgotten by the Service”, he noted.

He urged the officers to embrace their new roles with responsibility, stressing that they now represent the face of leadership in Customs. He also encouraged them to remain adaptive and forward-looking in the face of evolving global trade and security challenges.

The newly decorated officers expressed gratitude to the management of the Service and pledged to rededicate themselves to the responsibilities of their new ranks.

The ceremony was attended by Customs Area Controllers within Zone A, as well as family members, friends, and other stakeholders who joined in celebrating the milestone.
