Otega Ogra Elected To World Federation Of Advertisers Executive Board In Stockholm

The World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) has officially appointed Otega Ogra, Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Digital and Communications, to its Executive Committee.

The election took place during the 2024 Global Marketer Week, marking a significant milestone for Nigeria’s representation within the global marketing and advertising community.

Ogra, representing the Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN), joins a prestigious cohort of newly elected leaders from the world’s most iconic brands and national associations. The expansion of the Executive Board is part of a strategic effort by the WFA to diversify its leadership and strengthen its influence across emerging markets and digital frontiers.

“The appointment of Otega Ogra and other distinguished leaders signals our commitment to driving global marketing standards through a diverse and powerful executive voice,” the WFA stated.

The new intake features a “who’s who” of global brand leadership, including: Jiunn Shih, Global CMO, Driscoll’s; Silas-Lewis Meilus, Global Head of Media Operations, Haleon; Joel Renkema, Global Head of Insights, Ikea and José Román, Global Sales and Marketing Lead, Nissan.

These executives join an existing roster of leaders from Danone, Diageo, and the Tata Group to steer the industry’s $900 billion annual global spend.

In addition to Ogra, the WFA welcomed national association leaders Josh Faulks (AANA, Australia) and Simon Michaelides (ISBA, UK). This integration ensures that the federation’s global policies are informed by the unique regulatory and economic landscapes of key regional markets.

The WFA will continue to be led by President David Wheldon and Deputy President Philip Myers (Ferrero), who remain in their roles to ensure stability during this period of strategic expansion.

The election of Otega Ogra highlights Nigeria’s growing influence in the global digital economy.
His  expertise in government communications and private-sector marketing will expectedly be instrumental in the WFA’s mission to champion better marketing standards worldwide.
