Oyetola’s Passionate Prayer As Reelection Seeking Governor Arrives Saudi Arabia For Lesser Pilgrimage
Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, the Executive Governor of Osun State, has traveled out of town.
The holy city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia is his destination, HighStreet.Ng understands.
And on his entourage to the holy land of believers of the Islamic faith are his wife, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, his son, Femi Oyetola, Mr Ismail Omipidan, who is the Chief Press Secretary in his government, among others.
“I thank Almighty Allah for the privilege of performing the Umrah (lesser pilgrimage) rites in Saudi Arabia during this year’s Ramadan with my family.
Oh Allah, may I become more eligible for your love, blessings and mercy.
May Almighty Allah accept my Ibadah and grant me sound health, more wisdom and strength to keep serving and leading Osun to greater heights. Amin, Mr Oyetola had written on his official Facebook handle about the trip.
His mission in the holy land, primarily, is to seek the face of the Almighty God ahead of the Osun State governorship election, an insider hinted
The reelection-seeking incumbent is the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The gubernatorial election is scheduled to hold on July 16, 2022.
And he has a major opposition to his reelection bid in Senator Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), whom he trounced at the 2018 governorship poll.
Interestingly, governor Oyetola, a top player in the insurance sector of the economy before joining politics, is equally battling forces with his ruling APC threatening to limit his to a single term of 4 years.
At the forefront of the campaign against Mr Oyetola’s second term bid is Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the minister of interior in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Forget the fact that the governor defeated him and his favoured candidate at the recently held APC gubernatorial primary, Aregbesola has a cult of followers among the grassroots… And governor Oyetola is aware of this”, a source told highstreet.ng.
Hence governor Oyetola’s stand that the contest must be given all that it takes, and that is why it is not surprising he journeyed to the holy city in the company of his wife and son to seek the favour of the maker of heaven and earth, the source stated further.
