Everytime the limits of the Nigerian party spirit are tested, Nigerians always respond with madder vibes. We hardly say no to parties and for many people, Pepsi Rhythm Unplugged was the perfect place to get their #DettyDecember party groove on.

For months, Pepsi Rhythm Unplugged was advertised as the kickoff show for the 5-day Flytime Music Fest, with hip hop legend Mase, reggae sensation Koffee and Nigeria’s very own Grammy nominee and Pepsi Ambassador, Burna Boy as headliners. One look at that headliner list, and you could tell everyone’s music taste would be taken care of, but fans got even more. Here are some key parts of the show we won’t forget in a hurry.

That Patoranking Performance – Reggae fans had it good at Pepsi Rhythm Unplugged, some thanks to Patoranking who had a very brilliant performance. Live music, great sync with the band, amazing song selection and cool dance steps – just the right combination that anyone at the concert could have asked for.

Koffee With The Jamaican TurnUp – Toast and Rapture are probably Koffee’s most popular tunes here in Nigeria, but she left the crowd with more to remember her with. For a first time in Nigeria, she held the crowd down, with fans singing along as she performed her popular songs. For the rest of her performance, everyone enjoyed her soothing voice, stage presence and the tasteful moves in between.

Mase With The Drip And Memories – Many of the music lovers at this year’s Pepsi Rhythm Unplugged came for the nostalgia Mase was bringing with his hiphop tunes from way back, and they got that and more. First, he stepped out in classic agbada, much to the delight of the crowd, then he began to give the fans the performance they came for. As an OG in the game, he gave some upcoming artistes a chance to thrill the crowd and they too did their bit.

The AfroBeats Special from The Home Team – When you get a lineup of Burna Boy, Olamide, MI, Teni, Mayorkun, B Red, Zlatan, Joeboy, and Fireboy, you know you in for a great night. Teni showed the fans why she’s called The Entertainer, Olamide reminded everyone who’s King of Street Rap, MI further held it down for the rap genre and Burna Boy gave the crowd the show they came for – premium zanku and cool songs. All these after most of the younger acts had put in really good performances made this year’s Rhythm Unplugged a show and much more.

If someone says Pepsi, the organizers and other sponsors outdid themselves, they would be absolutely right. For one, the night never lacked good music, turnup hype and real taste. When there was no artist on stage, either of DJ Cuppy, DJ Neptune, DJ Obi, DJ Consequence or Bovi kept the crowd entertained. All fingers now stay crossed for what Pepsi and the Rhythm Unplugged brand bring us in 2020.
