President Buhari Honours Mike Adenuga With National Productivity Awards

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday conferred the National Productivity Order of Award on Chairman, Globacom Limited, Dr. Mike Adenuga, Jr., for his outstanding contributions to the development of Nigeria. 

The nation’s helmsman noted at the ceremony that Dr. Adenuga had eminently   distinguished himself as a major employer of labour and major driver of productivity in the country.

While Dr. Adenuga was recognized in the ‘Employers of Labour’ category, 35 others, including the Chairman of Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia; Abdulsamad Rabiu of BUA Group, and Chinedum Anthony Okereke, an industrialist received the national awards. Other awardees included individuals who played key roles in the prompt containment of the   Ebola virus and fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. The latter category specially honoured the late Dr. Stella Ameyo Adadevoh.

Dr. Adenuga, a multiple award recipient, got the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) by the Federal Government in 2012. He was also one of the 50 eminent Nigerians who were conferred with the Special Golden Jubilee Independence Anniversary Awards during the nation’s Golden Jubilee.

The Globacom chief sits atop the Mike Adenuga Group (MAG), one of Africa’s largest business conglomerates with interests in key sectors of the economy including oil and gas, telecommunications, construction, banking, real estate and aviation with thousands of direct employers from Nigeria, other parts of Africa, Asia and other parts of the world while millions are indirect employees of the MAG. He is equally one of the largest shareholders in Nigeria’s leading commercial bank, First Bank of Nigeria Plc., and construction giant, Julius Berger Plc.
