Signal Corps Commander Makes Operational Assessment Visit To HQ OPHK

The Commander Corps of Signals (CCS), Major General Nosakhare Ugbo, has on Saturday  27 September, 2025 paid an operational assessment visit to Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), as part of ongoing efforts to enhance effective communication support for counter-insurgency operations in the North East in line with the directives of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General  Olufemi Oluyede.

Speaking during the visit, Maj Gen  Ugbo explained that his mission was to assess the installation, maintenance, and protection of critical communication infrastructures across the theatre, interface with stakeholders, and conduct on-the-spot evaluations of signals projects in support of Operation HADIN KAI. He urged commanders in the theatre to maintain and protect installed Information  Communication  Technology (ICT)  facilities, communication equipment and other enablers, noting that these assets are vital to sustaining effective coordination and command systems. He assured OPHK of the Corps’ continuous support in delivering robust and innovative communication solutions to aid the fight against terrorism.

In his remarks, the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, appreciated the Commander Corps of Signals for the foresight and  innovative drive. He described communication as “the backbone of successful operations” and assured that all critical infrastructures will be protected to guarantee sustained operational effectiveness in the interest of regional and national security. He expressed optimism that the visit would have a positive impact on the overall success of Operation HADIN KAI.

Earlier, while briefing the CCS, Commander 57 Signal Brigade, Brigadier General Nelson Okafor, made a presentation on the activities of 57 Signals Brigade operating under OPHK, highlighting the progress made in the deployment of communication  equipment, enablers and other ICT projects across the theatre. He noted that these efforts had significantly enhanced command and control functions in OPHK.

Highlights of the visit included detailed operational briefs, signing of the visitors’ book, presentation of  souvenirs, and group photographs with Sector and Component Commanders, Commanders, and Principal Staff Officers of OPHK.
