Six Wonders You Probably Don’t Know About Petroleum Jelly

Petroleum Jelly is a wonder product that can serve as many things ranging from pomade, to an emergency lip balm, and many other uses we have become familiar with.

However, there are some things you can use your petroleum jelly for that you would have never dreamed of.

Thankfully, we have some pretty good petroleum jelly products in Nigeria. Dettol’s antibacterial skin jelly can work well for all of the things we are about to open up to you.

  1. Body scrub: The combination of jelly, sugar and salt is an efficient body scrub that will leave your skin feeling smooth and ‘baby soft’. Instead of spending a mini fortune on scrubs and treatments, give your skin a treat that won’t break your bank.
  2. Makeup remover: Petroleum jelly is the ultimate make-up remover. Apply it on your face and wipe it clean with tissue paper or cotton pads. It also works to remove makeup stains from other surfaces. You can also apply it to your eyelids to remove false lashes.
  3. Makeup enhancer: Petroleum jelly not only helps to remove makeup but also improves it. A little amount added to matte products will give you a cream-based effect without having to switch products. This means you can apply your matte lipstick, rub on some petroleum jelly and upgrade your look in two seconds!
  4. Lay your edges: If you don’t have a styling gel to help lay your edges, you can scoop some petroleum jelly and mix with a pea-sized quantity of aloe vera gel. Use this to lay your edges and tame those flyaways. Well, you can thank us later.
  5. Hair moisturizer: Petroleum jelly is widely recognized for its moisturizing properties, but many people are unaware that it can also be used as a moisturizer for hair. To get extra curly hair, apply generous amounts and scrunch your hair. It helps stop dryness in the hair when applied before blow-drying. It also curbs burns and stains when applied to the hairline before dyeing or perming.
  6. Anti-Rust: Jelly keeps your lightbulbs rust-free and easy to move. Apply a small amount of Vaseline to the base of your bulb before you screw it into place.

When next you go shopping for groceries and you pass by the petroleum jelly aisle, you may want to grab a small tub of Dettol’s antibacterial jelly.

The anti-bacterial qualities are an added bonus, especially in this climate.

The jelly also works for maximum protection against germs and locks in moisture while locking out germs.

Any product that can be used for lightbulbs, skin, and anywhere else is a winner in our books.
