“Those Responsible Will Face The Law” — Tinubu Reacts To Rescue Of 21 Kidnap Victims In Kogi
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that those responsible for abducting the 21 individuals recently rescued from a Kogi forest will face the full weight of the law.
The President’s reaction follows the successful rescue of all 21 abductees by security operatives after a well-coordinated search and rescue operation.
The rescued victims comprise 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and six other Nigerian citizens.
Tinubu, who is currently in the UK on a three-week vacation, expressed his relief in a statement: “I am delighted to receive the news that the fifteen members of the National Youth Service Corps and six other innocent and law-abiding Nigerians abducted last week in Kogi State by some criminal elements have regained their freedom.”
Hailing the mission as a highly coordinated operation executed by a combined team of military personnel, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and local vigilantes, the President assured the public that the perpetrators would not go unpunished.
“While the abductees have been safely rescued, our gallant security forces are still on the trail of the routed kidnappers, in line with my directive to sustain the pressure on all criminal elements,” Tinubu said.
He added, “Those responsible will face the full weight of the law, and our security agencies will pursue everyone who aided this crime. My administration remains committed to ensuring that every Nigerian can travel across our country without fear.”
Concluding his statement, the President shared in the relief of the victims’ families and reaffirmed his government’s dedication to national security. “As I share in the relief and joy of the parents and loved ones of the rescued individuals, I want to once again assure parents and loved ones of our dedicated corps members that my administration remains committed to ensuring the safety of their lives and property, as well as those of other Nigerians.”
He also invoked God’s blessings upon the men and women of Nigeria’s security and intelligence agencies.
