Tony Elumelu Honoured Again
African business leader and philanthropist, Tony Elumelu, has been honoured again.
The Nigerian Army at the Annual Chief of Army Staff Conference in Sokoto decorated him with a special recognition award.
The event, held yesterday, December 5, 2022 saw President Muhammadu Buhari physically presenting him with the well-deserved honour.

Interestingly, the development came be days after the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) bestowed on him a similar award.
The founder and chairman of Heirs Holdings – an African conglomerate with interest in Financial Services, Power, Oil and Gas, Real Estate, Hospitality and Healthcare – revealed the latest honour was in “recognition of The Tony Elumelu Foundation’s economic empowerment of wives of slain soldiers who lost their lives fighting to keep Nigeria safe and secured”.

Here is how the respected businessman who also chairs pan-African financial institution, United Bank for Africa (UBA), reacted to the development via his social media handles…

This afternoon, I had the honour of being in the presence of our Army personnel at the Annual Chief of Army Staff Conference in Sokoto to receive an award presented by the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, H.E. Muhammad Buhari, in recognition of The Tony Elumelu Foundation’s economic empowerment of wives of slain soldiers who lost their lives fighting to keep Nigeria safe and secured.
Tony Elumelu Foundation’s Economic Empowerment for widows of the Armed Forces of Nigeria gives them business training and seed capital of $2,000 each to begin their entrepreneurial journeys and cater for their families.
My profound gratitude goes out to the selfless men and women of the Army who continually risk their lives daily to defend their country… thank you also to the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Defence Staff and, the President & Commander in Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, H.E. Muhammadu Buhari for this recognition.
