The Kogi Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja has affirmed Yahaya Bello as the duly elected governor of Kogi State.

Governor Bello’s victory at the 2019 gubernatorial election was challenged at the tribunal by Musa Wada, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.

In a majority of two to one ruling on Saturday, May 23, 2020, chairman of the tribunal, Justice Kashim Kaigama ruled the petitioner failed to prove the allegations of over-voting, massive thumb printing, voters intimidation among other offences.
