The election of Governor Duoye Diri of Bayelsa State has been nullified by the Bayelsa State Gubernatorial Election Tribunal.

Governor Diri was sacked today August 17 based on petition by Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party which approached the tribunal that it was unlawfully excluded from participating in the election.

Mr Diri was sworn in as governor following the supreme court judgement that sacked the then governor-elect and candidate of All Progressives Congress, David Lyon 24 hours before his inauguration.
