Troops Recover Arms, Destroy Terrorist Camps In Taraba Forest

In a decisive raid aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) have successfully neutralized a terrorist, recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and destroyed terrorist camps in Ikiyayo Forest, Wukari Local Government Area, Taraba State.

Acting on credible intelligence reports regarding the presence of terrorist elements, the operation was executed in the early hours of today, 7 July 2024 when the brave troops of 93 Battalion Sub-Sector 3B OPWS swiftly moved into action, targeting the hideouts and camps used by the terrorists. During the combing of the forest, the troops encountered the terrorists, engaging them in a heavy gunfight which led to the neutralization of one terrorist.

Recovered items include one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, and 39 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Additionally, multiple camps used for planning and executing attacks were completely destroyed.
