Video: Adeleke Joins In Celebration As Supreme Court Reaffirms Gov Diri’s Re-election

The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri and his deputy, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo are in celebration mood.

The development was over the Friday, August 23, 2024 supreme court judgement that reaffirmed their re-election victory as governor and deputy governor of the oil rich state.

Interestingly, they were joined in the celebration of the joyous moment by the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

Adeleke led his Bayelsa State counterpart, his deputy and other well wishers in singing melodious praises to the Almighty God immediately the five-member panel of the Supreme Court in a unanimous decision dismissed the appeal of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Timipre Sylva, challenging the November 11, 2023 election.

Gov Diri, who reacted to the apex court pronouncement via his Facebook handle,  wrote:

“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 15:57.

On behalf of my workaholic Deputy and I, we thank God for today’s victory at the Supreme Court over our re-election.

Big shout out to our supporters and good people of Bayelsa State for the mandate freely given us which has just been reaffirmed by this massive judgment.

We appreciate the Justices for standing on the side of truth. We do commend the electoral body, INEC for defending its declared results of the November 11, 2023 governorship election while the case lasted from the Tribunal, to the Court of Appeal and finally at the Supreme Court.
