Governor Fubara gave the assurance at the Government House, Port Harcourt while meeting with stakeholders, traditional rulers and opinion leaders from Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area on Saturday.

Sir Fubara said his administration decided to embark on the road project which was initiated by the previous administration because of its strategic economic importance to the people, noting that it will enhance the standards of living of the people when completed.

The governor who attested to the competence of Setraco in handling the project, cautioned against any act of sabotage and urged the Commissioner for Works to liase with the company and the community to resolve evolving differences to enable the project to commence in earnest.

“I know the reputation of Setraco, this is a job that I inherited, the contract award was revoked by the former administration and re-awarded to Setraco. When I came, I felt that particular project should be revisited. Setraco has been awarded the job and we are not going out of that agreement”.

He said the sum of N5.2bn has been paid to the contractors out of the reviewed total contract sum of N7.2bn.

Governor Fubara thanked the people of Onelga for their overwhelming support in his election and urged them to cooperate with the contractors to ensure smooth delivery of the project.

On his part, the Oba of Ogba Land, His Eminence, King Nwachukwu Obuohna Obi, Eze Ogba 111 who led the delegation, said the protest of the people on the project was as a result of lack of proper communication and engagements between the company and the community.
