What Guber Aspirant Akin Ogunbiyi Said As He Dumps PDP
Gubernatorial aspirant, Akin Ogunbiyi has dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Ogunbiyi, a notable player in the insurance sector of the economy, announced his resignation from the PDP in letter addressed to the party chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu.
In an official communication dated March 25, 2022 and titled “LETTER OF RESIGNATION FROM THE PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC PARTY (PDP)’ the chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance indicated his resignation takes effect from Monday, March 28, 2022.
“Please accept this letter as a formal resignation from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with effect from 28th March 2022.
Thank you for the interactions and engagements I had within the Party over the years of my membership”, the letter personally signed by Ile-Ogbo-born businessman turned politician read.

Interestingly, Mr Ogunbiyi had earlier withdrawn from the gubernatorial contest a day to the March 8, 2022 held PDP primary, alleging that the exercise was perfected to favour Senator Ademola Adeleke.
He openly levelled allegations of bias against the chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.
Ademola Adeleke, who contested and lost to reelection seeking Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in 2018, emerged the candidate of the PDP for the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.
The election, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), holds on July 16, 2022.
