Why Court Vacated Contempt Order Against EFCC Director

Justice Abubakar Hussaini Musa of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court, February 7, 2024, vacated an earlier order of the court directing the Inspector-General of Police to arrest the Director of Proceeds of Crime Department of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Aliyu Usman for disobeying the ruling of the court directing operatives of the Commission to vacate a property at Number 6, Aso Drive, Abuja.

The judge granted the prayers of EFCC Counsel, Francis Usani for leniency and purging of the contempt. Besides, arguments were made on the main suit and preliminary objection on jurisdiction.

Justice Musa frowned against disobedience of his orders and thereafter discharged Usman of the contempt. He also adjourned to April 11, 2024, for judgment on the main suit.
