Why Gov Ben Ayade Sacked Nine Cabinet Members In One Day
The governor of Cross River, Ben Ayade has relieved nine member of his cabinet of their appointment.
Victims of Mr Ayade’s decision – four commissioners and five Special Advisers – according to information, were fired for not following him to his new party, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Ayade officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on May, 20, 2021 after meeting with six APC governors who visited him at the Government House in Calabar, the state capital.
Their sack was announced in a statement Prof Ayade’s mouthpiece, Christian Ita, on Monday, May 31, 2021.
“The state governor, His Excellency Prof Ben Ayade has approved the relief of the following persons of their appointments as commissioners: Mike Usibe, Rita Ayim, Mr Asu Okang, Ntufam Donatus Etim”.
“Similarly, the under listed persons have also been relieved of their appointments Mr Leo Inyambe, Rt Hon. Orok Otu Duke Mr. Victor Okon (Alausa) ,Mr. John Etim Bassey, Hon. Agbiji Mbeh Agbiji,” Ita said in the statement.
