Why Gov Seyi Makinde May Not Contest Oyo 2023 Guber Election
The governor of Oyo, Oluseyi Makinde may not contest the next gubernatorial election, information at the disposal of highstreet.ng just indicated.
And reason for this is simple, he has his eyes on a bigger position.
The next general elections are scheduled to hold in February 2023.
And the battle for who becomes what has already started.
Sources who are familiar with the scheme of things around the only Peoples Democratic Party governor from the southwest revealed the number two seat of the country to be Governor Seyi Makinde’s position of interest this time around.
“Become vice president of Nigeria is his ultimate dream, if things pan out as planned he will run as running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar”, a source confided in highstreet.ng.
Atiku, a former Vice President, was the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2019 general election.
He ran with former Governor Peter Obi.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has reportedly shown interest in running for the top position again, with governor Makinde making a discreet move to be his running mate.
Interestingly, Mr Makinde just won a major battle that transformed him leader of the opposition PDP in the southwest.
His candidate, Taofeek Arapaja – a former Deputy Governor of Oyo State – emerged victorious at the recently conducted PDP congress in the zone.
He defeated another party man Eddy Olafeso backed by former Governor Ayo Fayose.
